The PicPak isn’t just another digital photo frame. This palm-sized, ultra-thin display uses color e-ink technology to show images, news, and health data while sipping power so efficiently it can stay on standby for over a year. Right now, it’s up for grabs at just $49, but only through a crowdfunding campaign.

At just 3.9 x 3.6 x 0.24 inches, the PicPak is slim enough to slide into a bag or stick magnetically to a fridge. It runs on a 550mAh battery, which the developers claim can last up to 400 days on standby. Actual battery life depends on how frequently you update the content but for static photo displays, it’s incredibly efficient.

The internal storage fits 500–600 images, and since it’s e-ink, the screen holds the last image even when the device is powered off.

GeForce Now caps chip away at cloud gaming’s value for heavy users

With GeForce Now capping all users at 100 hours monthly, cloud gaming loses its edge even against high DDR5 RAM PC builds.

Right now, PicPak is primarily a digital picture frame, but it’s built with more in mind. The device connects via WiFi and is expected to receive software updates to support:

This puts PicPak in the category of a low-power smart display but only once those features roll out. Early adopters will need to wait for future updates to unlock the full potential.

Backers can reserve one unit for $49, with deeper discounts for multi-packs. The first wave of deliveries is scheduled for January, though as with all crowdfunded products there’s no guarantee. Delays, changes, or even non-delivery are all risks.

The platform advises reviewing the fine print carefully, especially shipping policies and refund conditions.

Whether used as a dynamic art piece or a minimalist way to track data, PicPak stands out thanks to its battery life and display tech. It doesn’t replace your tablet or smartwatch but for passive, persistent info that looks good and lasts long, it might just be the cleverest screen you stick on your desk in 2025.

Low power, full color, and no constant charging? That’s a quiet flex.
